PreK3 - 3 & 5 Half and Full Days

The spiritual foundation for the PK-3 preschool program, as for the rest of the school, is our Catholic faith. As a teacher, I strive to live up to the noble goals of our faith every day at school. To welcome children in the name of God requires to love them like God loves us.

God's call to love others is audacious. We're to put others ahead of ourselves. It's a love that forces us to grow by changing our hearts. In our class, we talk about God and Jesus throughout the day in organic ways such as thanking God for nice weather that lets us enjoy the outdoors or asking Jesus for help on a day filled with trials. We ask Him for forgiveness, believing in His merciful heart. We help each other knowing the deep value of friendship and remembering His example of faithfulness and care. The more children know about God, the more they will fall in love with Him.

The other pillar for our preschool program focuses on children’s academic, social, and physical development. Preschoolers learn through movement and participation. They need modeled instruction and playful learning opportunities to explore and internalize new ideas. We know young children are not ready to sit still and focus for long periods of time. They learn best when they move, manipulate objects, build, sing, dance, draw, and participate in dramatic play. It is interesting how so many children today show an amazing level of cognitive development. However, there are also other skills that are essential for their social, emotional, physical, and mental development.  Children need to master satisfactory levels of attention, behavior, language, imitation and specific fine and gross motor skills first before they can start formal academic instruction in Kindergarten. Our program is built up in ways which promote development of these necessary skills.
